Grow a garden
while you focus.

Start a focus session and a plant grows while you work. Tick a habit and it blooms into a flower. Miss a day? Nothing breaks: your garden waits for you.

How it works

Simple enough for tired days

Focus grows plants, habits grow flowers, and both land in the same little garden, one plot per day.

A grown pumpkin next to Mo the mole: Your pumpkin grew, plus 50 minutes

Focus

Plant a focus session

Pick a plant and a length, from 5 minutes to 3 hours, and tap Plant. It grows while you stay with your work, and when the timer ends it joins today's garden.

The hours you put in unlock new plants: 16 in all, from tomatoes to an orange tree.

A wilted plant: This one wilted. Your garden keeps it.

Lock, don't leave

Put your phone face down. Your plant keeps growing.

HabitBarn can tell locking your screen from leaving for another app, so the only rule is the one that matters.

  • Screen lockedFine. The plant keeps growing and the timer keeps running.
  • Switched to another appYou get 10 seconds to come back, then the plant wilts. It stays in your garden anyway.

Habits

Tick a habit, grow a flower

Read, move, sleep on time. Each habit has its own flower, and every one you tick blooms in the same plot as today's focus plants.

Give a habit a focus length (say, deep work for 50 minutes) and finishing that session ticks it for you.

Momentum

Progress that bends, never breaks

Instead of a streak that resets to zero, every habit has momentum: it rises with each day you keep it and dips gently when you don't. A busy week costs a little, not everything.

One missed day barely matters for building a habit; quitting after it does. HabitBarn is built so a slip never turns into a spiral.

Questions

Is HabitBarn free?

Yes. The free garden has the full focus timer, 3 habits, nine plants that unlock with focus hours, the last 7 days of stats and sync through your account. There are no ads. Plus adds unlimited habits, seven Plus-only plants and your full history in stats.

Which devices does it run on?

HabitBarn is an app for iPhone and iPad, from the App Store. There is no web version, Android or Mac app. Sign in on both your iPhone and your iPad and the same garden is on each.

I used HabitBarn in the browser. Where did it go?

The browser version is retired; HabitBarn lives on iPhone and iPad now. Sign in to the app with the same account you used on the web and your habits and history move into the new garden.

Will there be an Android version?

Not right now. If you'd like one, email support@habitbarn.com: if enough people ask, we'll build it.

Do I need an account?

No. Start right away and your garden is saved on your device. Sign in with Apple or Google whenever you like to back it up and use it on your other iPhone or iPad.

What happens if I leave the app during a focus session?

Locking your phone is fine: the plant keeps growing. Switching to another app gives you 10 seconds to come back; after that the plant wilts. Wilted plants stay in your garden too, nobody is scolded.

What happens if I miss a day?

Nothing breaks. Instead of a streak that resets to zero, each habit has momentum that dips a little on a missed day and rises again when you're back. You can also tick a day you forgot, up to a year back.

Is my data private?

Your habits and focus sessions are yours. We don't sell data or show ads. You can export everything as a CSV file or delete your account at any time in the app's Settings. The privacy policy has the details.

How do I cancel Plus?

On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then HabitBarn (the app's Settings has a Manage subscription button that opens the same place). You keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for.

Do you offer refunds?

Purchases are made through the App Store, so Apple handles refunds: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you bought Plus on our website before the app, email support@habitbarn.com within 14 days of that purchase.
